Luri Gompa winter puja Mustang, Nepal

It was A selection of photos from a puja in Luri on around 6th December 2013. I assume this kind of thing is known locally and not announced, as who would want to show up? It’s a local puja for the residents of surrounding villages for the own purposes.

So with less than an hour’s walk from Yara after hearing about this event, we went to observe. After some wait, while drinking tea and chang, while the changing room in the tiny monastery was hustle and bustle, the procession, and then dance, started.

It was fully, properly spectacular, given the winter light and the backdrop of eroded ancient ocean bed.

If people question “is Mustang really Tibetan?” then you can part-answer that question from these pictures.
